Hotel Coco Grand Ueno Shinobazu

We both liked staying in the Hotel Coco Grand Ueno Shinobazu. The staff were nice and spoke decent English.

I booked their Park View Panorama Twin room via Rakuten's travel website. It was a non-smoking room, unlike some of their others. It was a bit more expensive than some of their smaller rooms but I was glad I chose it. It was beautiful and clean, had a nice view of Ueno Park, a massage chair, comfortable, beds, and a very nice, modern bathroom with a TV by the tub. Their buffet breakfast they served in the dining area was not one of the better ones I had in Japan, but it was decent and satisfactory.

The location of the hotel was nice in that it was right across the street from Ueno Park and is near Ueno Station. It's also a convenient place to lodge if you're coming from or going to Narita Airport, as the Keisei Ueno station (for the Keisei Skyliner train directly to/from Narita Airport) is within walking distance.

I had difficulty booking the room I wanted at this hotel, but I was eventually able to do it. I suggest trying to book several months in advance if you can.
