First I reviewed a consumer organization's test results and ratings of active noise-cancelling headphones. The Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC SonicPro High-Resolution Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation rated well compared to others. And they were generally priced lower than ones that rely more on brand recognition. I also read buyer reviews online of Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC SonicPro High-Resolution Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation and some other comparable headphones. I concluded the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC SonicPro High-Resolution Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation seemed to provide the best value.
On the long flights to and from Japan I used these headphones for hours. The headphones were perfectly comfortable on the top and sides of my head. I never experienced any discomfort. Their cancellation of the airplane engines' background noise was a bit better than the noise-cancelling headphones that came with our Japan Airlines Premium Economy seats. And the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7NC SonicPro High-Resolution Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation were more comfortable. Though I didn't use their active noise cancellation feature—which relies on the built-in battery—for the entire flight, it did last for the several hours I used it. And the headphones would still work even if you used up the battery with the noise cancellation.
They come with an airplane adapter as well as other plugs so you can connect them on airplanes and to most portable devices. I found their sound quality excellent. The headphones felt sturdy and of good quality. The ear pads can be swiveled to lay the headphones a bit flatter in whatever bag or container you want to place them in. I was delighted with the purchase and my experience with them.
