Boy, was Sagano Scenic Train a waste of time and money. We took the train from Saga torokko to Kameoka torokko station and back, bored and irritated the whole way. The station and train were crammed with obnoxious people who would not stop talking. The views from the train were boring and anything but romantic. And much of our time on the train was in pitch black tunnels! (They don't tell you about that.)

Alright, I'm done writing about this one. Don't bother wasting a moment of your time or any of your money on Sagano Scenic / Romantic Railway.
