Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto

We both loved this hotel. When the nearby Palace Side Hotel became unbearable for me, I booked a room at Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto on booking.com. It turned out well that I fled the Palace Side Hotel, as we got a much better room at an equally cheap price at Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto. (My wife loved this place so much she scolded me for failing to book it in the first place.)

Mind you, unlike some other hotels in the area, Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto does not have a restaurant or offer meals. But it was directly across the road from a Family Mart convenience store with good food around the clock.

The staff were great and spoke a fair degree of English. And the room was fantastic. Beautiful decor (my dimly lit photos don't do it justice), fairly spacious by Japanese standards, comfortable beds, spacious and fabulous bathroom with a deep aromatic cedar tub, a kitchen with dining table and chairs, modern shower with great water flow, big closet, overlooking the main road outside yet still quiet, and it had a laundry washer/dryer in the bathroom! We got immense value and quality for barely above $100 a night! That may be because the hotel was fairly new. So I wouldn't be surprised if they raise their prices in the near future. But when we return to Japan if Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto still has decent prices, we will absolutely be trying to book a room at this fabulous place.

I booked their "Superior Twin Room Non-Smoking" via booking.com. (I receive a small commission if you book through that link.) If you don't need breakfast or a restaurant in the hotel and would like a modern, spacious (by Japanese standards), clean, gorgeous, exceptionally well appointed room with great English and Japanese speaking staff, check out Hotel Kado Gosho Minami Kyoto.
